What is the microbiome?

The human microbiome is defined as the totality of microorganisms that live on and within the human body. It can also be called microbiota or microflora. It is an extension of ourselves; It plays a protective role and is an integral part of our skin's barrier function. Probiotics, prebiotics and postbiotics: what do these words really mean?

Probiotics:

Probiotics are live microorganisms that keep your body healthy. We can also call them more colloquially "good bacteria." The ones we use at Gallinée are from the Lactobacillus family and have been gently deactivated by heat. Often found in yogurts and other fermented foods, lactobacillus is the most common probiotic. It is also one of the best for health. Strengthens the skin microbiome and alleviates many problems associated with sensitive skin.

Prebiotics:

A prebiotic is any ingredient that represents an excellent source of nutrient supply for good bacteria. They are perfect for rebalancing the microbiome and strengthening the skin's beneficial microflora, restoring it to health. Its goal is to feed the good bacteria already found on your skin, its own bacterial ecosystem. For this they use prebiotics from chicory, beet and also yacon. They give it this little gingerbread aroma.

Postbiotics:

This is what the products of good bacteria are called. This is the "waste" of probiotics, which helps regulate the composition of the natural bacterial ecosystem on the skin. At Gallinée they use lactic acid more precisely, which creates the ideal environment for your skin and its bacteria. It also makes the skin very soft.

All Gallinée products are made with natural ingredients and have been dermatologically tested and formulated for sensitive skin. The pH of each product is close to that of the skin (4.5-5.5 facial/body line and 4.5 capillary). Gallinée products do not contain soap, dyes, parabens, silicones, plastic microbeads, phenoxyethanol or methylisothiazolinone.
