Vitamin C in summer, yes or no? Lico Cosmetics advice...

Lico Cosmetics resolves these most frequently asked questions about vitamin C:

Why is including vitamin C in summer a good idea?

"Summer is the most fun season and invites you to spend it outdoors and recharge your batteries for the rest of the year. However, we do not discover anything if we warn you about the dangers of the sun and radiation. Sun protection is inexcusable but the damage due to skin burns make any extra help very welcome. Complementing sunscreen with active ingredients that reinforce our own natural “shield” will help avoid unpleasantness. Prevention is better than regret and if in addition to taking care of ourselves we get more beautiful skin, honey. on eyelets.

Vitamin C is the antioxidant par excellence. Antioxidants, as their name suggests, prevent our cells from oxidizing, atrophying, and as a result we suffer premature aging and, in extreme cases, serious irreparable damage. But vitamin C is also an all-round active ingredient and in addition to this main antioxidant function, it provides a lot of luminosity. Giving uniformity to our skin tone, preventing blemishes, its lightening effect or fighting against wrinkles and signs of expression are other benefits that we will achieve thanks to its enhancement of collagen and elastin synthesis. And just when we want to show off more beautiful skin! So what are the reasons not to use it?"

Aren't all vitamins C the same?

"Detractors claim the appearance of spots, darkening of the skin and photosensitivity (although what they really mean is that it is photosensitive) and perhaps that is part of the confusion.

Photosensitizing cosmetic: causes adverse effects on the skin upon contact with the sun.

Photosensitive cosmetic: it degrades due to the sun and loses effectiveness.

Vitamin C is photosensitive, not photosensitizing. It does not cause damage to the skin when it comes into contact with the sun. In fact, as we mentioned above, it is the antioxidant par excellence and we recommend it because it helps protect us from its adverse effects. But precisely this antioxidant capacity means that poorly formulated vitamin C can accumulate in the pore, oxidize in the sun and cause spots."

How do they treat Vitamin C in Lico?

"It took us two years at Lico to formulate our C+E serum. Ensuring its effectiveness led us to select the most effective derivative of vitamin C (ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate) that also suffered the least from that photosensitive effect we talked about. Its microencapsulation helps preserve it. even more and its effect on the skin is progressive and prolonged. And its combination with vitamin E enhances its effectiveness.

The selection of the packaging is not coincidental either. The topaz glass and label preserve the product from light to prevent degradation. The applicator is a dosing pump so that there is no contact of the product with the outside and thus guarantee its useful life. We also like it in our night care.

In summary...

Take care of your skin wisely. Don't forget sun protection and include vitamin C and antioxidants in your routine to help provide extra protection. Neglecting it and getting burned is not fun and very dangerous. Forget the horrible myths of the past because it is just the opposite, helping your skin protect itself will make it more beautiful, brighter and more radiant."
