Everything you need to know about micellar water
During recent years, micellar water has become a staple in our toiletries bags because it fulfills one of the functions of the facial routine: cleansing. But do you know everything about micellar water? Are you using it well in your routine? The truth is that there are a series of mistakes that people make when applying this product, such as not rinsing their face after use. Therefore, today we are going to delve deeper into micellar water so that you can include it in your routine and use it correctly. At the end of the post we will leave you some recommendations from our catalog.
What is micellar water?
Micellar water is a product within cosmetics that is used to cleanse and remove makeup from the face. This is mainly characterized by its formulation based on micelles , small cleansing oil structures that are capable of attracting dirt and oil, which helps eliminate impurities without drying out the skin. Likewise, it contains additional extracts that provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, soothing and moisturizing properties for the skin.
Therefore, micellar water is a 3in1 product: cleanses, tones and hydrates the skin .
What is micellar water used for?
Unlike lotions, creams or oils to remove makeup, micellar water cleanses the skin in a single gesture. Most are free of dyes, perfumes and alcohol, making it a product suitable for all skin types, since it is 0% aggressive, and the natural ingredients it is made of help take care of the most sensitive and delicate areas of the face: eyes, lips, neck and décolleté.
Micellar water also serves to eliminate that laziness of removing makeup or cleaning your face before going to sleep. This is because with a simple gesture you can get a soft, fresh and calm face; Leaving the skin smooth, silky, shiny and preventing irritation. This product deeply cleanses the skin and removes any type of dirt.
Can it also be used for 'waterproof' makeup?
Indeed, thanks to the micelles, which are like a magnet, they trap impurities and dirt. However, it can be a bit complicated, which is why a cleansing oil is often used, such as Le Baume Céleste Cleansing and Makeup Remover Facial Balm .
How do I apply this product?
You can use it in the morning to remove excess dirt that the skin generates at night and/or at night, before going to sleep, to remove makeup, hydrate, cleanse and tone your skin. Regarding its method of use, it is done as follows:
- Take a cotton pad (microfiber towels, muslin, sponges or a reusable pad also work. As for paper, it is better to avoid it since it would fall apart as soon as you put it in contact with the skin) and moisten it with the micellar water . Next, gently pass it over your face, with circular movements from the center towards the facial contour, to remove impurities, dirt or makeup. Repeat as necessary.
It is important that you do not drag the cotton along the skin since instead of removing the dirt you would only be dragging it . The micelles are activated earlier by small circular touches and therefore absorb dirt faster.
- When it comes to removing makeup or dirt from the eyes, it is essential to do it gently, without rubbing the skin or using products that are not indicated for this part of the face since, as a consequence, irritation or dryness may arise. Micellar water becomes a good option, and you should apply it by gently pressing the cotton pad, previously moistened with the product, on the eyelids for a few seconds. This will cause the micelles to act on the skin. Then carefully move the cotton along the root of the eyelashes.
- Repeat the entire process as many times as necessary.
Frequent errors:
Remember , the order is: first micellar water, to cleanse the skin, and followed by the toner, to balance the pH and leave the skin ready for the rest of the steps.
Every cleanser or makeup remover has its goals, but micellar water is an all-rounder. In addition, its texture means that it does not leave you with a light sensation of sebum, as can happen, perhaps, with cleansing milks. It is a good option to include in your routine, and in our catalog we have some that might interest you:
